"When I first walked into Jean Pierre’s teaching studio about 2 years ago, I began a long process of really understanding the implication of the modern rock guitar in today’s music. Many guitarists have a single minded idea regarding the role of the electric guitar, that being the rock n’ roll/ heavy metal of 20, 30 years ago.
Following the ideologies and teaching concepts of guitar greats, Jean Pierre has understood and implicated the guitar in today’s music while staying true to the traditional rock guitar outfit. What is most impressive is that he managed to achieve all this on his own through dedication and love of the instrument.
Jean Pierre isn’t simply your average guitar teacher. He shows interest in whatever he does and appreciates the student’s dedication while continuously pushing them through his serious and sincere approach to teaching and guitar playing. Despite this, he manages to keep a friendly relationship with his students.
Jean Pierre is capable of being flexible between styles. He could teach anything from blues to rock on to metal. While being quite knowledgeable in jazz, funk, classical and various other styles. Unlike many other rock musicians he also appreciates the acoustic guitar which adds another dimension to his music.
His playing involves technical fluidity together with a high theoretical background, yet he keeps the song writing and the melodic aspect up in the forefront. The concept of inducing an acoustic backing is quite an original idea. Apart from writing in traditional tuning he also writes in various alternate tunings similar to celtic folk songs.
Jean Pierre’s immense understanding of the style and the musical maturity renders his music authentic and pleasing, breaking away from music which has become predictable and technically poor. His three recordings prove his creativity and that he has much to contribute to the modern rock-guitar scene. "
