"My name is Yannick Pace and I’ve been taking guitar lessons from Jean-Pierre for the past two and half to three years and I honestly cannot begin to describe what a great influence he has been on me not only with respect to my guitar technique but also with regards to my overall knowledge and views on different styles of music. One of the main reasons Jean-Pierre is such a great teacher is that besides being one of the most technically gifted guitarists I have ever seen, he is a very modest person who can relate to his students in a way that not many people can. Moreover, Jean-Pierre just not simply show you how to play something, he teaches you the theory and reasoning behind what he is showing you which allows his students to be able to be creative and not to just stick to what to what he has showed you during the lesson. Obviously it goes without saying that this he can do after having mastered the guitar neck and is confident using all the scales. There is no doubt about Jean’s capability as a teacher because thanks to him I have gone from a person who couldn’t hold a guitar in his hand to someone who can play the guitar relatively well and is capable of improvising and creating his own music. Starting off from learning the basics like how to hold the guitar and the pick to simple finger exercises, to simple riffs, soloing using pentatonic scales and using different modes, Jean has showed me, with great patience all that I have needed to know so far.
As for his own playing, well the first word which comes to mind is WOW. Most people I can think of would not manage to have the technique Jean-Pierre has in a dozen life times, incredible. What I admire most is the fact that the man can do anything one can imagine using a guitar, he can play any style of music he chooses to and more importantly play it with a certain coolness and flare that would make you believe that it is all he ever plays. His music is technically very impressive, easy on the ear and never boring. It is the type of music which is accessible to all people in that it is not the type of music only a guitarist would like but music which can be enjoyed by different types of people. I believe Jean-Pierre has great talent and potential and I would personally love to see him get more of a chance to develop and record more of his work."
